Surry Village Charter School on target for opening September 2006 … Surry, NH, --
Having received its state issued charter and Federal Start-Up grant award letter, founders have worked tirelessly to establish a Board of Trustees, secure facility space, hire staff and set up school programs.
The Board of Trustees has been established with the following members serving one year terms from July, 2006 - June, 2007 Frank Conroy – Angy Lombara - Henry Muhlenberg, MBA, CPA .- Tom Julius, Ed.D. - John Thomas, M.Ed.
Director: Matora Fiorey Ph.D., of Surry, NH Teachers: Jennifer Wichland M.S.,of Keene, NH Erica Morse M.Ed., of Marlboro, VT Debora McGahie, of Westmoreland, NH
Initial applications for grades K -5 include 30 children from surrounding Monadnock region communities including: Alstead, Gilsum, Keene, Roxbury, Sullivan, Surry, Swanzey, Troy, Walpole, Westmoreland. Total enrollment will be limited to 35 students for the first year. The school will grow to include grades K-8 by adding a new kindergarten class each year.
The next application deadline is July 21. The deadline for submitting enrollment forms for any families accepted in the second application round is August 11. Currently there are spaces available in the kindergarten and second grade, all others will be placed on a lottery determined waitlist. Application to all grade levels is encouraged as the enrollment numbers may change in the coming weeks.
