A Tuition-free public charter school

Thank you so much for donating to the Surry Village Charter School! We are launching our second Annual Fund and hope you will consider giving generously. Our Annual Fund goal this year is $160,000. We are asking you to invest in our community in a way that will continue to provide benefits for years to come.

Surry Village Charter School (SVCS) opened its doors as a public school option, K-5 in 2006. Since then we have expanded to sixth grade, welcomed many new families, expanded our offerings and added an administrative office. Charter schools are very new in New Hampshire. They are public schools that are tuition-free to any child in NH. As public schools of choice they provide an opportunity for families to select learning environments that best fit their child’s learning style. Charter schools benefit not only those that attend but also give comfort to other families by knowing there is “choice”.

What makes Surry Village Charter School great? Kids like coming to school. They learn NH curriculum standards and get involved in exciting projects. In our first year our students have been writing historical plays, learning about gardening, composting, cider-pressing and maple sugaring, working with retired neighbors in the village, using the cemetery for history lessons and exploring the local habitats. We use modern technology too, our older students learn mapping using GPS devices and computers for powerpoint and publishing.

What will your money do? We will use the funds raised to pay for the essentials that keep a school running: salaries, rent and utilities, custodial services, health benefits for employees and bookkeeping. And if enough money is raised, it will be available for the coming year.

The support for SVCS has been heartwarming, the local Surry Players donated to our integrated arts program, the library changed its hours to accommodate our schedule, and the church has allowed us to use their property for our school buildings. Many families, friends and businesses have donated their time, materials and efforts. We need your help as we continue to grow. Your tax-deductible donation is an investment in the school, the children, the community and the future.

Thank you!
